What is Hypnosis?
A focused state of attention and heightened suggestibility, often used for relaxation and positive change.
Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention and concentration, combined with heightened suggestibility. During hypnosis, you remain fully conscious and in control while becoming more open to positive suggestions.
Contrary to popular myths, hypnosis is not sleep, mind control, or unconsciousness. You cannot be made to do anything against your will during hypnosis. Instead, it's a collaborative process where the hypnotist (or audio guide) helps you access a relaxed, focused mental state.
Research suggests hypnosis works by quieting the analytical mind and allowing direct communication with the subconscious. This makes it easier to adopt new perspectives, release unwanted habits, and reinforce positive behaviors.
Common experiences during hypnosis include deep relaxation, time distortion (sessions feeling shorter than they are), and heightened focus. Most people describe it as a pleasant, calm state similar to daydreaming or meditation.
