What is Hypnotic Trance?
A state of focused relaxation characterized by heightened suggestibility and reduced peripheral awareness.
A hypnotic trance is the altered state of consciousness experienced during hypnosis. It's characterized by deep relaxation, focused attention, and increased responsiveness to suggestions.
Despite the name, trance is not a zombie-like state. You remain aware of your surroundings and can emerge at any time. Most people describe it as similar to being absorbed in a good book or movie—aware but deeply engaged.
Trance depth varies from light (slight relaxation) to deep (profound focus). Both depths can be effective for different purposes. Light trance works well for stress relief, while deeper states may help with deeper pattern changes.
Physical signs of trance include relaxed muscles, slower breathing, reduced eye movement, and a sense of heaviness or lightness. Mental signs include time distortion, reduced critical analysis, and vivid imagination.
