Raise-Ready: Sleep Rehearsal for Founders

Before we begin, find a comfortable position lying down in your bed. Let your arms rest naturally at your sides or on your belly, whichever feels most natural. You don't need to do anything with your hands except let them be heavy and still. Close your eyes now, or let them close gently as we begin. Tonight's session is designed to do two things at once: help you rehearse your investor calls at a deep, unconscious level, and then let you drift into a full, restorative sleep. You don't need to consciously memorize anything or try hard to rehearse. Your unconscious mind is extraordinarily capable of absorbing, organizing, and rehearsing while you rest. In fact, the more you let go of effort tonight, the more powerfully your mind will prepare you. This session uses mindfulness awareness to settle your nervous system first, and then guided imagery to rehearse your calls from the inside out. You'll experience yourself as the founder who has done this before, because that version of you already exists inside you. There is nothing you need to do except listen and allow. If you fall asleep before the session ends, that is perfectly fine. That is actually the goal. Let the words carry you. Everything you need is already here. If at any point you feel uncomfortable, you can simply open your eyes and return to full waking awareness. You are always in control. Now, gently close your eyes, and let's begin.

Bring your attention to this present moment. Notice what you can hear, feel, and sense right now. [6 second pause] Maybe you can hear the quiet of the room around you. [7 second pause] Maybe you notice the weight of your body against the mattress, the pillow beneath your head. [8 second pause] Just noticing. No need to change anything. [7 second pause] Notice the temperature of the air where it touches your skin. [6 second pause] Notice the rise and fall of your chest and belly as you breathe. [8 second pause] You don't need to breathe in any particular way. Your body already knows how to breathe. It has been doing it all day without you. [9 second pause] Just observe it now. The breath coming in. [5 second pause] And the breath moving out. [7 second pause] Notice how, simply by paying attention to your breath, your body begins to slow down. [8 second pause] Notice how the mattress seems to hold you a little more firmly. [7 second pause] Notice how your thoughts, whatever they were a moment ago, are beginning to soften at the edges. [9 second pause] You don't need to push thoughts away tonight. If a thought arises, simply notice it, the way you'd notice a cloud drifting across a night sky, and then let your attention return to the breath. [8 second pause] In. [6 second pause] And out. [8 second pause] That's right. [9 second pause] Now, as you continue to breathe, I want you to notice something. Your body is already beginning to let go. [7 second pause] Your jaw may be softening already. [6 second pause] Your shoulders dropping just slightly. [8 second pause] Your hands becoming heavier against the bed. [9 second pause] And with each breath out, you are releasing a little more of the day. [8 second pause] The calls you made. The messages you sent. The plans you turned over in your mind. [7 second pause] All of it can rest now. [10 second pause] You can rest now. [9 second pause] And as you rest, your unconscious mind remains quietly, gently awake, listening, absorbing, preparing. [10 second pause]

I want you to imagine, in whatever way feels natural to you, that you are sitting in a quiet room the night before something important. [7 second pause] It doesn't have to be a specific room. It can be any space that feels calm and yours. [8 second pause] Maybe it has low, warm light. [6 second pause] Maybe there's a window with the darkness of night beyond it. [7 second pause] You're sitting comfortably, and there's a sense of quiet readiness in the room. [9 second pause] Not the anxious kind of readiness. Not the rehearsing-the-same-sentence-over-and-over kind. [7 second pause] The other kind. [8 second pause] The kind that comes when you've done the work, and your body knows it, and your mind is beginning to settle into the truth of that. [10 second pause] In this space, you feel the ground beneath you. [6 second pause] Solid. [7 second pause] Steady. [8 second pause] And you notice something as you sit here in this quiet. [7 second pause] There is a version of you that already exists, the founder who has been in rooms like tomorrow's before. [9 second pause] The founder who has sat across from investors and spoken with clarity and warmth and precision. [8 second pause] Who answered hard questions without flinching. [7 second pause] Who held the energy of the room without forcing it. [10 second pause] That version of you is not far away. [8 second pause] That version of you is here, in this room, sitting with you now. [9 second pause] And tonight, as you drift into sleep, you are going to step fully into that version of yourself. Now, to help you go even deeper into this restful, receptive state, I'm going to count down slowly. [6 second pause] With each number, you will feel yourself drifting deeper, becoming heavier, more relaxed, more open. [7 second pause] Ten. [10 second pause] Letting your whole body sink down. [9 second pause] Nine. [10 second pause] Your mind becoming quieter, softer. [9 second pause] Eight. [10 second pause] Any remaining tension in your body simply dissolving into the mattress beneath you. [9 second pause] Seven. [11 second pause] Deeper now. [10 second pause] Six. [11 second pause] Halfway down, and you can feel how natural this is. How easy it is to just let go. [10 second pause] Five. [12 second pause] Your breathing is slow and rhythmic and perfect. [10 second pause] Four. [12 second pause] Deeper still. Your body is so heavy now, so comfortable, so still. [11 second pause] Three. [13 second pause] Almost there. Drifting down into that beautiful, quiet space between waking and sleep. [12 second pause] Two. [13 second pause] Just one more step and you'll be there. [11 second pause] One. [15 second pause] There. [12 second pause] Deep, deep down. Calm and open and ready. [15 second pause] And now, imagine a warm, golden light beginning to move slowly through your body, starting at the top of your head. [10 second pause] Softening your scalp. [9 second pause] Moving down across your forehead. [10 second pause] Releasing the small muscles around your eyes. [9 second pause] Down through your jaw, your neck, your shoulders. [12 second pause] Flowing through your chest. [10 second pause] Down your arms to your fingertips. [11 second pause] Through your belly and your lower back. [12 second pause] Down through your hips, your thighs, your knees. [11 second pause] All the way down through your calves and ankles and the soles of your feet. [15 second pause] Every cell in your body is warm and heavy and at rest. [15 second pause]

And now, from this deep and restful place, your unconscious mind is perfectly ready to receive what I'm about to share. [10 second pause] You are a founder who speaks with earned authority. [10 second pause] Not performed authority. Not borrowed confidence. [9 second pause] The real kind. [10 second pause] The kind that comes from knowing your business, knowing your numbers, knowing your story. [11 second pause] And you know all of those things. [10 second pause] Tomorrow morning, when you join that first call, you will notice something. [9 second pause] Your voice will be steady. [8 second pause] Not because you are forcing it to be steady, but because you are grounded in what you know. [11 second pause] You have thought about this business more deeply than anyone in that room. [10 second pause] You have lived it. And your unconscious mind worked through the night, organizing, rehearsing, settling into the version of you that shows up with ease. [12 second pause] You go through your morning. [9 second pause] And when the time comes for the first call, you open the door to that conversation the way a founder who has raised before opens a door. [10 second pause] Not bracing. Not performing. [9 second pause] Just walking in. [11 second pause] And the words come. [9 second pause] The right words, in the right order, at the right pace. Let sleep come now like a tide moving in, slow and inevitable and welcome. [20 second pause] There is nothing to do. [22 second pause] Nowhere to be. [20 second pause] Just this breath.
