Catching the Wave Before It Breaks

Before we begin, let's get you set up properly so you can get the most from this session. Find a comfortable position — either sitting upright in a chair with your feet flat on the floor, or lying down on a bed or sofa. If you're sitting, let your hands rest naturally on your lap or at your sides. If you're lying down, let your arms fall gently beside you, palms facing upward or downward, whichever feels natural. You do not need to close your eyes just yet — I'll guide you on that in a moment. This session is designed to be listened to in a safe, quiet environment where you will not be interrupted. Please do not listen while driving, operating machinery, or doing anything that requires your full attention. If at any point during this session you need to return to full awareness, you can do so simply by opening your eyes and taking a breath. You are always in control. During this session, I'll be guiding you into a deeply focused state of hypnosis — a natural state of inner attention that you've already experienced many times, perhaps while daydreaming or becoming absorbed in a film. In this state, your unconscious mind becomes highly receptive to new patterns of thinking, feeling, and responding. We'll be working specifically with your body's early warning signals — those first, faint signs that anxiety is beginning to stir. You'll learn, at a deep unconscious level, to catch those signals early and respond with calm, automatic ease — long before panic has a chance to build. There is nothing you need to do except listen and allow. Your only job is to let go. Let's begin.

[4 second pause] Lace your fingers and press them firmly together. [5 second pause] Feel that pressure. [5 second pause] Now imagine those hands are beginning to lock. [5 second pause] Like two pieces of a puzzle clicking into place. [6 second pause] The harder you press, the more locked they become. [6 second pause] Try to pull them apart now. [5 second pause] Notice how they stay together. [6 second pause] That's your unconscious mind responding already. [5 second pause] That's the part of you that runs everything — your heartbeat, your breathing, your immune system — and that's the part of you we're working with today. [7 second pause] Now on the count of three, release your hands and let them drop gently into your lap, and as they drop, you'll feel a wave of relaxation move through your entire body. I want you to imagine, now, that you're standing at the edge of a vast, calm ocean. [6 second pause] The sky above is a deep, steady blue. [7 second pause] The water stretches out endlessly before you, smooth and still near the shore. [8 second pause] And you notice something remarkable about this ocean. [6 second pause] Far out on the horizon, you can see the very beginning of a wave forming. [7 second pause] Just a gentle swelling of the water. [8 second pause] A barely perceptible rise. [9 second pause] And from where you stand, you can see it perfectly. [8 second pause] You can see it long before it reaches the shore. [7 second pause] Long before it builds into anything significant. [8 second pause] You have all the time in the world to watch it. [9 second pause] To understand it. [8 second pause] And to respond. [10 second pause] This is your new relationship with panic. [8 second pause] You are the one standing on the shore. [7 second pause] Calm. [6 second pause] Clear-eyed. [7 second pause] Seeing everything. [9 second pause] And you have all the tools you need, right here with you, to meet that wave before it ever breaks. [10 second pause]

And now, I'm going to count down from ten to one. [4 second pause] With each number, you'll drift twice as deeply into this calm, focused state. [5 second pause] By the time we reach one, you'll be in a place of profound inner quiet — open, receptive, and completely at ease. [6 second pause] Ten. [10 second pause] Sinking deeper now. [9 second pause] Nine. [10 second pause] Every muscle, every fibre, every cell beginning to release. [9 second pause] Eight. [10 second pause] Your body knows how to do this. [8 second pause] Seven. [11 second pause] Deeper still. [9 second pause] Six. [10 second pause] You're doing so well. [9 second pause] Five. [12 second pause] Halfway there, and already so deeply relaxed. [10 second pause] Four. [11 second pause] Let every thought that drifts through simply float away, like clouds across that wide blue sky. [10 second pause] Three. [12 second pause] Almost there now. [9 second pause] Two. [12 second pause] Just one more step into this beautiful, still place. [10 second pause] One. [15 second pause] Perfect. [12 second pause] You are exactly where you need to be. And in this deep, receptive state, your unconscious mind is listening to every word. [8 second pause] And it is learning. [9 second pause] Right now, in this moment, your unconscious mind is building something extraordinary — a new, automatic early-warning system. [10 second pause] An inner alarm that is sensitive, intelligent, and calibrated perfectly to protect you. [9 second pause] Not an alarm that panics. [8 second pause] And somewhere in the background of your awareness, there is a faint flicker. [7 second pause] The very beginning of a signal. [9 second pause] And watch what happens next. [8 second pause] Without thinking, without effort, your feet press into the floor. [7 second pause] Your breath deepens, just slightly. [8 second pause] And a quiet voice inside simply says — I've got this. [10 second pause] The signal fades. [8 second pause] You continue walking. [9 second pause] Calm. [7 second pause] Present. [8 second pause] In control. [12 second pause] Now see yourself on a train. [7 second pause] The doors close. [8 second pause] The carriage fills. [7 second pause] And again — that first, faint whisper of anxiety. [9 second pause] And again, your system responds. [8 second pause] Automatic. [7 second pause] Immediate. [8 second pause] You feel your body settle. [7 second pause] You feel the seat beneath you, solid and real. [8 second pause] You take one slow breath. [9 second pause] And you are fine. [10 second pause] Completely fine. [12 second pause] And now see yourself in a meeting. [7 second pause] People around the table. [8 second pause] Voices, expectations, a room full of energy. [9 second pause] And if that signal stirs — even slightly — you catch it. [8 second pause] You meet it with the calm authority of someone who knows their own nervous system.
