Sleep When Your Mind Won't Stop

This session is designed to be listened to while you're already in bed, ready for sleep. Lie in your usual sleeping position with your eyes closed, your body settling into the mattress beneath you. There's nothing you need to do or figure out. Simply let the words wash over you as you drift toward sleep. If you fall asleep during this session, that's exactly what's meant to happen. There's no need to wake up or listen until the end. Just allow yourself to be carried gently into rest.

Bring your attention to this present moment. [6 second pause] Notice what you can hear, feel, and sense right now. [8 second pause] The sounds in the room around you. [7 second pause] The feeling of the bed beneath your body. [8 second pause] The temperature of the air on your skin. [7 second pause] You don't need to change anything. [6 second pause] Just notice what's here, right now. [8 second pause] And notice that in this moment, you're safe. [7 second pause] You're comfortable. [6 second pause] There's nowhere else you need to be. [8 second pause] Nothing else you need to do. [7 second pause] This moment is complete, just as it is. [8 second pause] Notice your breathing. [6 second pause] You don't need to change it or control it. [7 second pause] Just observe the natural rhythm. [8 second pause] The gentle rise. [6 second pause] And fall. [7 second pause] Rise. [6 second pause] And fall. [8 second pause] Your body knows how to breathe without any effort from you. [7 second pause] And it knows how to sleep, too. [8 second pause] That wisdom is already within you. [7 second pause] Trusting that your body remembers the way to rest. [8 second pause]

And now, imagine that your mind is like a sky at dusk. [8 second pause] Vast. [6 second pause] Open. [7 second pause] Growing darker and softer as the evening deepens. [8 second pause] Your thoughts are like clouds drifting across this sky. [7 second pause] You can see them floating by. [6 second pause] But you are not the clouds. [7 second pause] You are the sky itself. [8 second pause] Infinite. [6 second pause] Still. [7 second pause] The clouds of thought come and go, drifting through you, but they don't change the sky. [8 second pause] They simply pass through. [7 second pause] And as the night grows deeper, the clouds grow thinner. [8 second pause] Drifting further apart. [6 second pause] Moving more slowly. [7 second pause] Until the sky becomes clear and peaceful. [8 second pause] Just watching. [6 second pause] Just being. [7 second pause] The sky doesn't try to push the clouds away. [8 second pause] It simply allows them to drift. [7 second pause] And in that allowing, they naturally dissolve. [8 second pause]

And as you rest here, noticing the sky of your mind growing calmer, you might become aware of the weight of your body. [8 second pause] Feeling the mattress beneath you. [7 second pause] Supporting you completely. [6 second pause] Holding you. [8 second pause] Let yourself sink a little deeper into that support. [7 second pause] Trusting the bed to hold you. [6 second pause] You don't need to hold yourself up. [8 second pause] Letting go. [7 second pause] Sinking. [6 second pause] Deeper. [8 second pause] Ten. [10 second pause] Sinking down into comfort. [8 second pause] Nine. [9 second pause] Letting go a little more. [7 second pause] Eight. [8 second pause] Each breath taking you deeper. [7 second pause] Seven. [9 second pause] So heavy now. [8 second pause] Six. [8 second pause] So peaceful. [7 second pause] Five. [10 second pause] Halfway there. [8 second pause] Four. [9 second pause] Deeper and deeper. [7 second pause] Three. [8 second pause] Sinking into sleep. [7 second pause] Two. [10 second pause] Almost there. [8 second pause] One. [12 second pause] So deep. [10 second pause] So calm. [8 second pause]

And in this deep, peaceful state, your mind can begin to quiet itself naturally. [10 second pause] Those racing thoughts that kept you awake... [8 second pause] they're just energy looking for somewhere to go. [7 second pause] And now, that energy can simply dissolve. [8 second pause] Draining away from your mind. [7 second pause] Flowing down through your body. [6 second pause] Down through your shoulders. [7 second pause] Through your arms. [6 second pause] Through your chest and stomach. [7 second pause] Down through your legs. [6 second pause] All the way down to your feet. [8 second pause] And out. [7 second pause] Leaving your mind peaceful and clear. [7 second pause] Your body knows the way. [8 second pause] It's been waiting for you to get out of the way. [7 second pause] And now you are. [8 second pause] Just resting. [7 second pause] Just breathing. [6 second pause] Just being. [8 second pause]

Imagine tomorrow morning. [10 second pause] Waking naturally. [8 second pause] Feeling refreshed. [7 second pause] The way you feel after a deep, restful sleep.
