Take a deep, comfortable breath in through your nose, feeling your lungs expand fully. And as you exhale through your mouth, allow your body to settle into its position, like a leaf gently floating down to rest on soft earth. With each breath, you can feel yourself becoming more and more relaxed, sinking deeper and deeper into peaceful comfort.
Notice the gentle rise and fall of your chest, like peaceful waves on a calm shore. Feel the weight of your body being supported, as if you're being cradled in a cloud of pure comfort. With each breath out, release any tension you've been holding, letting it flow away like water.
Starting from your toes, feel a warm, soothing sensation beginning to spread. Let this peaceful warmth flow through your feet, ankles, and up into your calves, dissolving any tension it meets. This comfortable warmth continues up through your knees, thighs, and hips, making each muscle completely relaxed and heavy.
Let your shoulders drop, as if they're melting like snow in warm sunlight. Allow your arms to become completely loose and comfortable, from your shoulders, through your upper arms, elbows, forearms, wrists, and all the way to your fingertips.
Allow your jaw to soften, releasing any tension you might be holding there. Feel the muscles around your eyes becoming loose and comfortable, as if they're being gently massaged by warm, soothing light. Let this relaxation spread across your forehead, down your temples, and throughout your entire face.
As you continue breathing naturally and easily, you might notice sounds in the background, like distant echoes in a peaceful valley. These sounds can help you relax even deeper, each one acting like a gentle wave washing away any remaining tension. Each sound you hear simply confirms that you're safe and can relax even more, drifting deeper and deeper into this peaceful state.
With each number I count, you can double your relaxation. Ten, sinking deeper. Nine, twice as relaxed. Eight, letting go completely. Seven, drifting peacefully. Six, deeper still. Five, completely safe. Four, so very relaxed. Three, peace flowing through you. Two, almost there. One, deeply relaxed and completely at peace.
