Take a deep, comfortable breath in through your nose, feeling your lungs expand fully. And as you exhale through your mouth, feel the tension beginning to leave your body like gentle waves washing away footprints in the sand. With each breath, allow yourself to settle more comfortably into your position, as if you're being cradled by a soft, warm cloud.
Notice the gentle rise and fall of your chest, moving at its own natural rhythm, like peaceful ocean waves lapping at a quiet shore. Your body knows exactly how to breathe without any tracking or monitoring, just as it has done since the moment you were born.
Starting at the top of your head, feel a warm, golden light of relaxation flowing downward. It flows through your scalp, melting away any tension. Down through your forehead, softening the muscles around your eyes. Through your cheeks and jaw, releasing any held tension there.
This peaceful warmth continues flowing down through your neck, dissolving any stiffness. Into your shoulders, where it spreads like warm honey, releasing knots of tension. Down your arms, through your elbows, into your forearms and hands, until your fingers feel heavy and relaxed.
Focus now on the points where your body makes contact with the surface beneath you, feeling as if you're slowly sinking into the softest cloud you can imagine. Feel the weight of your body being fully supported, safe and secure. With each exhale, you can sink a little deeper into that support, like a feather gradually settling on a peaceful morning breeze.
The relaxation continues flowing down through your chest and back, releasing any remaining tension. Through your abdomen, each breath bringing deeper peace. Down through your hips and thighs, becoming heavier and more relaxed. Through your knees, calves, and all the way to your feet, until your entire body feels wonderfully heavy and peaceful.
Allow your eyes to grow heavy, like flower petals closing at sunset, and when it feels right, let them gently close. That's right, just allowing yourself this time to completely unplug and unwind, drifting deeper and deeper into this peaceful state of relaxation. With each number I count from ten to one, you'll drift twice as deep. Ten... floating down... Nine... deeper still... Eight... letting go completely... Seven... sinking deeper... Six... so peaceful... Five... halfway there... Four... deeper and deeper... Three... almost there... Two... floating freely... One... completely relaxed.
