Settling In
Find a quiet, comfortable space where you won't be disturbed. You may sit or lie down, whatever feels most natural for you. If you're sitting, ensure your feet are flat on the floor and your hands are resting comfortably. If you're lying down, place your arms at your sides or rest them on your abdomen. It's perfectly natural if your mind wanders during this session - simply let those thoughts drift by like clouds in the sky. You may drift into sleep or remain in a relaxed state - either is perfectly fine. Your unconscious mind will absorb what it needs, regardless of your conscious state.
Relaxation
Take a gentle, soothing breath in through your nose. And release it slowly through your mouth, letting go of any tension. With each breath, allow your body to find its own natural, peaceful rhythm. Notice how your body already knows exactly how to breathe, just as it has since the moment you were born. It knows exactly when to inhale, filling your lungs with fresh, calming energy. And exactly when to exhale, releasing any remaining tension.
Just as your breathing has its own perfect rhythm, your entire being has natural cycles and patterns, like waves gently rolling onto a peaceful shore. With each breath, feel yourself settling more deeply into comfort, like sinking into the softest cloud.
Begin to focus on your toes and feet. Feel them becoming heavy and warm. This comfortable heaviness slowly flows up into your ankles. Moving into your calves and shins. Flowing like warm honey into your knees. Up through your thighs. Each muscle releasing and relaxing completely.
Let this wave of relaxation flow into your hips. Into your lower back. Spreading across your abdomen. Feel it moving up through your chest. Down your arms. Into your hands and fingers. Each breath deepening this peaceful state.
Let your eyelids become heavy, like silk curtains closing on a peaceful evening. They may already be closed, or they may be gently fluttering, like butterfly wings in a soft breeze. Allow them to close whenever it feels right, knowing that each moment brings deeper relaxation.
